Objective
Create and overcome jump challenges.
Organisation
⌛Duration: 10min
👥Participants: pairs or small groups
⚙️️Equipment: obstacles to jump on (rails, benches, mats, stairs, walls...)
Description
Participants must cross various rivers of lava (space between two obstacles). Their shoes are covered by anti-lava paint, but the paint is single use only: they can step a maximum of two times in the lava !
The leader can prepare in advance challenges of varying difficulty and set the start and finish points. But progressively the idea is that the participants imagine their own challenges and challenge themselves each other in small groups. When a challenge has been accomplished, the next player can define new start and finish points.
Variations
➖/➕Vary the distances, heights and types of obstacles.
➖Every time a traceur is out of the lava (on an obstacle), they can add a new layer of pain.
➕The paint is in limited quantities: the traceur choose if they want to apply it on the left or right foot.
Notes
If the space between obstacles is big enough, it is probably the traceur will always use their two steps to reach the next obstacle, and the game consists in traversing the space between two obstacles. When the distances are smaller, it is possible to jump from obstacle to obstacle or use only one step on the ground. The traceurs can therefore navigate various obstacles to get from point A to point B, and it's a matter of strategy and technique to decide when to use their anti-lava paint.
