Group line creation

Characteristic forms: creativity

Objective

Collectively create a line.

Organisation

⌛Duration: 15-20min

👥Participants: groups of 2-5

⚙️️Equipment: various obstacles

Description

Form an even number of groups.

Each group create a line with 5-6 parkour moves, and repeats it until it is memorized and fluid. The practitioners agree to exclude techniques that not everyone in the group has mastered.

Then, every group shows and teach their line to another group so that the group can replicate it. If the other group are unable to do certain moves, they have to find the relevant adaptations to the line.

Variations

➖To prevent the fear of the blank page, define a course that the participants need to do. The participants are then free to choose the techniques to use, but are still sufficiently guided in their exploration.

➖Give a list of techniques that they can use to build their line.

➕Exclude certain techniques (e.g. the safety vault) to push the practitioners to explore further than the most obvious solutions.

Notes

This training form requires to find the right balance between constraints and opening: enough constraints to avoid being lost, and enough freedom for traceurs to create something that is personal.

There exists different modes of organisation, which should be chosen carefully depending on the practitioners in question:

  • Attribute a "leader" role in every team
  • Each member creates their own individual part of the line, then the pieces are put together collectively.
  • Using the add-on game
